Season three of the series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, has been releasing a new episode every week on Amazon Prime. The story talks of a triangle love story that started when they were kids. Summer is a key time period in the series as the parents of the main characters grew up as best friends. They continued to nurture their friendship every summer at a house in Carolina at Cousins Beach. As they have kids who grow older, the main character, Belly, becomes obsessed with Conrad. Every summer after, she pines for him until she notices that his brother, Jeremiah, likes her more than just as a best friend. The series is messy and intoxicating to watch as drama unfolds in each episode.
With the new trailer for the last three episodes, the audience sees a new love interest for Belly as she’s flown to Paris. However, Han has described that the ending result will be different from the books she’s written. The audience believes there will be an alternate ending with Conrad, while others think differently. Senior Kaci Paulus said, “Honestly, I think it’s gonna end with Belly being alone, I think that’s what she’s changing.” This would ultimately be devastating for fans, as throughout the entire show, Belly has always loved Conrad, and it has been glorified.
Especially in episode five, “The Last Dance”, the audience gets an understanding of what exactly goes through Conrad’s mind and how he truly feels about Belly. This only made the audience root for his side more, as in this season, the audience has seen Jeremiah similar to a man-child. Junior Gracie Grashorn said, “The beginning, I was Team Jeremiah, and then I switched.” In that same episode, there’s a scene where Conrad and Belly are problem-solving so they can stay within the budget that Belly and Jeremiah have set for the wedding. They run it by him, and he immediately rejects it, saying that they need to buy a $750 cake instead, even though they are already in debt.
The audience made a complete joke out of Jeremiah after episode five because he had made such a big deal about cake, but the ring he got for Belly seemed almost impossible to spot. “The ring is stupid. It’s so small for no reason. It’s like, ‘Look at my ring!’, but what ring?” Paulus said, laughing. However, Grashorn doesn’t mind the size of the ring and thinks that it has no significance in the plot.
It’s hard to say what Han has next for the audience in the next three episodes, but she can bet on everyone glued to their screens on Sept. 3, 10, and 17 as new episodes release.
