The Eaton Reds track team delivered strong performances across two recent meets. The Fightin’ Reds Invitational took place on March 21, and the University Bulldog Invitational took place on March 28. Both meets showcased a high level of competition with many Eaton athletes placing in multiple events.
At the Fightin’ Reds Invitational, athletes from both the girls’ and boys’ teams placed in numerous events, helping the team stand out against a competitive field. The girls’ team saw several first-place finishes. Zoey Hall (27) led the way in the 100-meter dash, while Siri Rasmussen (27) swept both hurdle events, winning the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Olivya South (28) added a first-place finish in the high jump, while Taylor Markwardt (27) claimed first in the pole vault. Jayda Warehime (27) also contributed with a first-place finish in the shot put.
On the boys’ side, Owen Ochsner (27) secured a first-place finish in the high jump, and Joseph Endsley (27) earned first in the pole vault. The team’s strength was clear, with athletes placing across multiple events and contributing to the overall success.
Athletes credited their performances to the hard work put in behind the scenes. Jacob Ball (27) had an impressive showing at the Fightin’ Reds Invitational, placing first in both the long and triple jump. He believes success comes from “a lot of time working on your technique, getting stronger by being in the gym, and making sure everything adds up so you can perform well.”
Madison Brown (28) also delivered a standout performance, taking first in the 400-meter dash, long jump, and triple jump. She explained that success requires “extra practice and being determined in the sport and wanting to do good, not just doing it for fun.”
The Reds carried that momentum into the University Bulldog Invitational. Delaney Reuter (27) delivered a strong performance, taking first in both the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs. Ochsner continued his strong season with a second-place finish in the high jump. The girls’ relay team also placed first in the 4×400-meter relay.
In field events, Isabella Ramsey (27) continued to contribute at a high level, placing second in discus and first in shot put. As a state qualifier for the past two years, Ramsey reflected on her mindset and growth this season. She said, “I’m very thankful for the opportunities that I have been given, and I feel that I have learned a lot over the past two years. I still have to put in the work to be the best that I can be, and I am very grateful to have good competition that allows me to become the best version of myself.” She believes in the importance of mental strength and extra effort outside of practice. “In order to achieve success, I have to keep a positive mindset and not let anything get to me. I have to work hard outside of practice to get extra reps to make sure I’m the best I can be. I am very thankful for those who come to support me at my meets because it gives me an extra boost when I’m throwing,” Ramsey said.
Jaxon Robson (26) reflected on both his leadership role and his experience competing at the last home meet of his high school track career. “As the only senior, it’s definitely tough without all the other seniors, but I’m glad I have a good group of juniors to help lead and keep the team’s morale up,” Robson said. His final home meet was a meaningful moment to him. He said, “It felt good, and I’m glad I got to compete in it.”
With strong results from both meets, the Reds continue to build momentum as the season progresses and show promise for upcoming competitions.
