Super Bowl 2026 stands as one of the most thrilling championship games in recent memory. The Seahawks started strong at the 35-yard line. The first quarter was sensational, with the Seattle Seahawks choosing to receive the kickoff in the first. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold threw a 23-yard pass to Cooper Kupp to gain ground on a drive. The Seahawks scored first, which put the game at 3-0. The New England Patriots’ offense started slowly, and the Patriots were forced to punt after there was a sack on the quarterback, Drake Maye. Overall, both defenses were dominating, which resulted in a low-scoring first quarter. The 2026 Super Bowl occurred on Feb 8, 2026. The Seattle Seahawks played the New England Patriots in San Francisco, California, at Levi’s Stadium.
The Seahawks continued to dominate into the second quarter. They added two field goals to the score, which were 41 yards and 39 yards. The Seahawks took a 9-0 lead after these field goals. Sam Darnold completed less than half of his passes, with only five out of 12 passes for about 34 yards over this whole second quarter. Drake Maye went two of five for 14 yards and was also sacked once.
The New England Patriots took the kickoff from the Seahawks in the third, which resulted in them scoring. The New England Patriots come out strong in the third while getting on the board, leading to a score of 12-0 at the end of the quarter.
The Patriots started the quarter with the ball, and they gained 45 yards on short passes. The Patriots responded early in the fourth quarter when Drake Maye got several short passes to get into scoring range, which led to a touchdown, making the game 19-7. Seattle answered back with a long string, making the score 22-7 with the extra point. The New England Patriots fought back hard with another touchdown, making the score 22-13. Seattle’s defense held down the Patriots at the end, which ended the game with a score of 29-13. Both teams combined for a total of 350 yards on offense.
A lot of fans had a lot of fun watching the game. The New England Patriots have not been to the Super Bowl in seven years, and the Seattle Seahawks have not been in eleven years.
“It was a really fun game to watch, and I liked the end of the game a lot when the Seattle Seahawks took the victory,” said an EHS student.
The Seahawks had not won a Super Bowl for 12 years until this year.
At Eaton High School, there were a lot of students who were cheering for the Seattle Seahawks to win the Super Bowl.
“My favorite part of the Super Bowl was watching the New England Patriots,” Cade Foster (11).
Super Bowl 2026 was not a very high-scoring game compared to the past games. Both teams battled through adversity while still being able to execute in the important moments. Key plays during the second half shifted the energy and solidified the outcome. When the final whistle blew, the Seattle Seahawks went down in history as the 2026 Super Bowl champions.
