The Reds track team hosted its one home meet for the 2025 season. With the home track advantage and extra support, the team performed well, with both the girls’ and boys’ teams placing first. The team ended up victorious over the other nine teams in attendance.
The girls’ team had placers in almost every event, allowing for them to rack up points for the team. Delaney Reuter, a standout sophomore for the team, placed first in both the 3200m and the 800m. Another large contributor to the win was sophomore Siri Rasmussen, who placed first in the 100m hurdles and 300 m hurdles. Sophomore Isabella Ramsey took first in shot put and discus. These three sophomores’ dominant performances at the Fightin’ Reds Invitational helped lead the Reds to a first-place finish. The girls had one final first-place finish in high jump by freshman Olyvia South. Reuter said, “I try to lead by example and set a high standard for working hard and being your best.” Reuter also makes sure to be kind to everyone on the team, and have a positive attitude. It’s special that all of these underclassmen are leading the team, as the girl’s team will only continue to get better over the coming years.
The boys also had placers in almost every event, with the senior boys leading the team. Senior Brody Niswender placed second in the 100m and third in long jump. Another senior, Ryan Martinez, placed first in both pole vault and triple jump. “Having the meet at home made us all feel really comfortable, so we could perform our best,” said Martinez. Sophomores Jacob Ball and Cooper Wiedeman fell just behind the seniors by placing third in the triple jump and second in the pole vault, respectively. Sophomore Owen Ochsner placed second in the high jump, and Trevan Felix placed second in the discus.
Both the boys and girls team also gained a significant amount of their points from relays. The boys were placed in the 4×800, 4×200, and 4×400. The girls placed in the 4×800, 4×200, 4×100, and 4×400. The points scored from the relays helped both teams end up on top. Both wins took the entire team, which goes to show the culture. The team pushes one another during practice, which helps them feel prepared when facing tough competition.
The home meet was successful for the Reds, as it added to their team wins. It will be exciting to see how the rest of the season turns out, and which runners rise to the top heading into state.
