Three days before Drake planned on performing at Ball Arena, Ticketmaster emailed his fans that the Denver, “It’s All a Blur Tour ” was canceled. Aubrey Drake Graham, otherwise known as Drake, is a Canadian rapper who has sold over 170 million records. Drake announced his 2023 North American tour, featuring 21 Savage, in Mar. 2023, with 56 tour dates.
In the tour, he planned on performing at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. With only a couple days notice, Drake canceled his visit to Ball Arena that was scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8, 2023. Ticketmaster emailed attendees stating, “due to the distance the road crew has to travel along with the magnitude of the production of the Drake concert, it is logistically impossible to bring the full experience of the show to Denver this September” (The Denver Post).
Denver is one of the largest locations for the “It’s All a Blur Tour” around the middle to west coast. For tickets, fans were forking out $400 to upwards of $3,700. Drake hasn’t gone on tour in five years, causing fans to become desperate to see him. “I was planning on attending. This affects my point of view on him a little as he planned these concerts for all the local people and then canceled them at the last second. The tickets were outrageous prices about a month or two before the concert but they weren’t the worst. This impacts his reputation by his fans not liking him as much since he canceled on them last minute,” said Peyton Walker (24). A reschedule date has not been announced and fans were encouraged to hold onto their tickets for when a new date is configured.
“I wouldn’t attend the “It’s All a Blur Tour” because I’d rather spend my money on a Lana Del Rey or The Weekend concert. All of the concert cancellations have not changed my opinion on Drake and his music. I think the ticket prices are not reasonable, as it costs more to see him in Denver than it does a Red Rocks concert,” said Haley Beall (24).
Denver and other locations were cancelled due to it being “logistically impossible,” yet Drake is the one that planned on touring there. Fans are enraged by the cancellation because some have traveled and booked hotels, flights, etc. to see the show, but then it gets canceled days before. Cancellation policies do exist, but some aren’t guaranteed money back, and can be tricky to deal with.
