The American people selected Donald J. Trump to lead the nation. After more than two months, Inauguration Day has finally arrived, marking the beginning of Trump’s presidential journey as he gets ready to take the oath of office. The inauguration is a prestigious ceremony that is an honor to be in attendance of. From celebrities to an array of political figures, the inauguration is a pivotal event for the United States of America, marking the beginning of the newly elected president’s agenda for the nation.
Donald J. Trump being the 45th president of the United States knew the gist of what the road to becoming president would look like, but never could he have imagined how his second run for office was going to be. From the chaos of Kamala Harris replacing Joe Biden in the 2024 election to the two attempted assanation attempts on Trump, this time around would be far from ideal. Trump took all the negatives and turned to the word of the Lord.
In his inauguration speech Donald J. Trump said, “An assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear, but I felt then and believe even more now that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”
During his inauguration speech, President Trump remarked on his prior assassination attempts. The president endured some tough battles but in the end of all the hardships, sacrifice, and true determination for the success of the American people, Trump has been sworn into “Make America Great Again.”
Meanwhile, along with Trump’s speech concerning his assassination attempt, the events at the inauguration continued to leave the United States speechless. Many celebrities receive the honour of being able to attend the inauguration but this talented country singer got to be a part of it. Carrie Underwood was called upon to sing “America the Beautiful” at the opening ceremony of the inauguration. Within minutes of the performance beginning to start there was a malfunction in the sound system. This led Underwood to have to sing a cappella. The country was stunned because not only did she not let unfortunate circumstances discourage her, she delivered a beautiful rendition of the song. As she started her performance Carrie Underwood said, “You know the words, help me out here.”
Carrie Underwood began to sing a cappella as the crowd joined alongside her. Underwood’s phenomenal vocals were displayed and gave great honour to the well-known patriotic song. She showed up on Inauguration Day to represent the United States of America, and she did not disappoint.
As President Trump begins his second term as 47th president of the United States, Joe Biden bids farewell to the nation. Biden gave his final speech at Joint Base Andrews, an air base in Maryland, following Trump’s inauguration ceremonies. As his supporters face the fate of defeat, Biden gave his final remarks for the nation to hear.
Joe Biden said, “Let me close where I began with my sincere gratitude, and I really mean it from the bottom of my heart. I’ve been doing this for 50 years. You’re the best group of people. Hard to say. It’s been the honor of my life to serve as your president. And, I tell you what, the greater honor is being able to serve with all of you. You’re incredible. You really are. You really are.”
Biden has been a part of the political system for most of his life and on Jan. 20, 2025 he bid farewell to the supporters, politicians, and colleagues he gained along the way. With a heavy heart, the former president reflected on the good, bad, and the future to come. Although the farewell is bittersweet and difficult to accept, the former president requests for unity to be brought to the nation and its people. Bidding farewell to the nation he had served for the last four years and has been a part of for many more addressed the true honor he felt to serve the American people.
Presidents come and go but the traditions and patriotism continued in Washington D.C for Inauguration Day will always be a part of the American people and its government. With the many events scheduled for this day, the nation will always await the infamous inauguration that holds a special place in the hearts of society. No matter if the result of the presidential election aligns with a specific belief held by the American people, the inauguration remains equally important. EHS history teacher Drew Jorgensen said, “It’s tradition to show the United States and the world that there is a peaceful transfer of power.”
Republican or Democrat, the unity and fate of the nation still rests in the hands of the American people. The inauguration gives a day to see the president for who he truly is and seek the betterment of the nation. Unity, democracy, and the American Dream is what this nation is truly striving for and Inauguration Day is a way for society to realize this inauguration is more than just a president being sworn in. More importantly, it determines the fate of the nation for the next four years.
