Concert ticket prices continue to rise

Going to music concerts and festivals is almost always guaranteed to be a good time. Seeing popular music artists live is one of the best forms of entertainment, because it is not the same as listening on the radio. Dressing up and singing along to music is a feeling that sometimes can’t be beat. As summer approaches and more concerts are available, the prices of tickets are making it less possible for people to see their favorite music artists.

Ticketmaster is the most common way people get their tickets for major events, including concerts. To get tickets to see top artists like Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, Zach Bryan and many others, people waited on the Ticketmaster website for hours and spent a fortune on their tickets. The site crashed a few times, and some fans were simply too late, as the tickets were swept away in minutes. This process was described as excruciating and many fans even failed to get tickets as a result of this debacle.

An example of ticket prices being through the roof are the tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour. Elly Kennedy (25) is a huge “Swiftie” and went through a lot to get tickets. Kennedy’s aunt spent eight hours on the site waiting for the tickets to be up for sale. Kennedy said, “The site crashed on her two times and she thought she wouldn’t be able to get tickets for us and I was really devastated because I wanted to go so bad.” The prices to see Swift range all the way from $700 to $9,000 for each ticket. The tickets for Swift’s Denver shows were all sold out within seconds, making it hard for Kennedy’s aunt to find available tickets. Kennedy’s aunt was able to acquire 5 tickets, but the family will be traveling to Minnesota just to see Swift perform.

Some of these top artists have recognized the struggle their fans are going through and are trying to address the situation. Morgan Wallen held a free concert for his fans at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. He held this concert to show his appreciation towards all of his fans. Every single ticket was distributed and the arena was fully packed.

With ticket prices being so high and unreachable, some major fans are out of options to see their favorite artists.
