Eaton FFA (Future Farmers of America) attends District Leadership Conference

39 EHS FFA members take part in leadership conference

39 students attended the conference, which held workshops covering different areas of agriculture. The conference took place on Nov. 14, 2022, there were a variety of speaking contests in which multiple attendees of EHS placed. 

Tayla Wiedeman (24) said, “Attending conferences like these are part of the reason FFA is so beneficial. You get to make lifelong connections and get informed about different pathways you can go in life and even grow your network to the point where you may be having a conversation with your future employer.”

In the Creed speaking contest, Hayden Annand (26) and Addison Hodgeson (26) placed silver, and MJ Joseph (26) placed gold. Clayton Heid (25) participated in the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest and earned a bronze. Competing in the prepared speaking contest was Wiedeman and Shae Stone (24). Stone placed silver and Weideman placed gold. 

Harley Forester (26) said, “I think these conferences are important because they can help teach others the reasoning behind FFA.” 

FFA is important for learning about where food and many everyday resources come from. Knowing about agriculture is key to the future and is an extremely important resource to have, especially in Eaton where agriculture is such a big part of Eaton’s community and is a staple in the town’s culture.
