Coffee shops are infamous for their specialty drinks, which are usually released around holidays. This year, as Valentine’s Day approaches, Dutch Bros, Starbucks, and Scooter’s Coffee have crafted new beverage flavors to fit the occasion. Other places, like Ziggi’s Coffee, have stuck with a different vibe. They have chosen to keep their drinks more fit for the winter season.
Dutch Bros is a very popular destination for students at EHS to purchase a fun drink. This February, they are offering a Pink Velvet drink, which can either be made into a mocha, shake, or cold brew. The flavors include red velvet and cream cheese frosting with their pink velvet soft top. The drink is very pretty, with its pink hues that fit the season perfectly. Trinity Salberg, a senior at Eaton High School, said, “It was really good, and tasted like red velvet cake.” The other specialty drink for the day of love is called the Luvstruck. It can be made into a rebel or a shake, and it includes blackberry and vanilla flavoring, with the pink velvet soft top as well. This drink is also the most beautiful color that captures the feeling of Valentine’s Day.
Starbucks has also put out two new drinks. The first is a White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Cold Brew, and includes everything in its name. This drink features their new soft top and curls. The other Valentine’s option is the Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino, which blends together strawberry, vanilla, and cinnamon flavoring that will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth.
Scooter’s Coffee is close to the high school, so many Eaton students purchase drinks from the shop on their way to class. Their festive drink is called the Strawberry Sweetheart Mocha, a veteran that they’ve brought back again this year. It is meant to taste like a chocolate covered strawberry, a downright classic for Valentine’s Day. Skylinn Ferrel (27) said, “It wasn’t too sweet, but just perfectly enough that it was filling and surprisingly refreshing for being coffee.”
Ziggi’s Coffee has not put out any drinks specifically for the season of love, but have included a promotion for the occasion. They are offering bonus points and possible surprise treats to guests who visit from Feb. 3 to Feb. 14. Their menu also has two new drinks, perfect to cozy up with during the winter. The Iced Coconut Caramel Shaken Espresso and the Iced Brown Sugar White Chocolate Shaken Espresso have both opened a new door for customers. Shaken espresso is a new addition to the shop’s options, and fits right in with the cold weather.
For those celebrating Valentine’s Day with a loved one, these amazing new items are the perfect drinks to set the mood.
