“Motivation and energy.” That describes the Eaton High School dance team, according to the head dance coach Tara Kasen. The 20 girls that make up this talented group are drawing the attention to people all across Eaton. From dancing at halftime to dancing at the little girls clinic, the dance team is having a “fantastic time” as a dance team member Jasmine Mendez (18) would put it.
The idea for a dance team first started with Karalee Kothe (16) who is currently an Eaton high school student who identified a great opportunity for young girls to get involved and have school spirit while having great time. While that idea was being processed Ashton Dyer and Tara Kaysen wanted to get a dance team up and running as well. Kasen said the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. There were no tryouts and any student was accepted into the group. The Eaton High School provided both the pom-poms and jerseys.
All that the sponsors and coaches Tara Kasen and Ashton Dyer asked of the team is to have strong commitment and provide a small amount of necessities.
Practice, practice, practice. The dance team meets from 3:30-5:00pm every Friday to perfect their routine for the teams first football dance performance on Oct. 17 at halftime. So as the team would put it, “Be calm and dance on!”
