- Students at Eaton love their trucks, diesel, and cars. Occasionally, when a class’s window is open, the loud rev of the diesel engine pauses class for a moment. Ten years ago, not only did Eaton student
s have diesel trucks, they raced dune buggies, Camaros, and Mustangs. Five students- Tyler Mantz, Matt Brozek, Mike Scheller, Bryson Booth, and Chris Mill- raced their vehicles at Bandimere National Speedway.
- Knowledge Bowl reigns at Eaton High School as the only academic club, but in 2004, Mrs. Sullivan, who retired last spring in 2014, sponsored the Academic Decathlon. In the Academic Decathlon, students trained over ten different subjects before taking a written test on those various subjects.
- The year before the 2015 seniors entered high school, the only language besides Spanish allowed for students to take, was French. Before that, however, students could have taken either German or Spanish.
20 years ago
- Much like the victory the 2013 volleyball team snagged at state, twentyyears ago, the volleyball team of 1994 won the State Championship. Their coach is familiar for several students at high school- she was many student’s very first teacher. Mrs. Connye Benson helped the 1994 volleyball team claim a state title.
30 years ago
- Female sports at EHS are limited to volleyball, swimming, basketball, softball, track, tennis and cross country. Thirty years ago, in the 80s, girls could compete in gymnastics at the high school. Not only could the girls compete in gymnastics, the team placed 14th at State.
- Taking Family Living may have resulted in a marriage for two lucky individuals three decades ago. Parents, maids, and groomsmen as well as a pianist and guests all took part in the wedding of Michael Rosalez and Bobbett Coldiron.
