Eaton sends record number to Patriot League Honor Band
EHS sends 25 students to display musical talents
After many hours of practice and preparation, Eaton High School Honor Band had the privilege of sending 25 students, to the Patriot League Performance. Monday, January 14, the Honor Band sent the greatest number of participants ever to the Union Colony Civics Center to perform with eleven other schools. In total, about 65 musicians participated in the symphonic band and about 65 in the concert band. EHS band students submitted their audition tapes in early November and were accepted to perform at Patriot League shortly after.
Jon Brantner (21), a bass clarinetist, said, “It’s a way to come together as a bigger family around the state, and have fun and bond over music.” This was Jon’s first year participating in Patriot League and he said he is very proud of himself and his fellow band members. All 25 students had to take time out of their days to practice and ready themselves for the performance. Abby Whitaker (22), a percussionist for Eaton’s Honor Band, also participated in Patriot League for the first time this year, and said, “It’s just up to you to learn the music.” Both students worked hard and were excited about what the Honor Band accomplished that night.
Band Director, Logan Doddridge, also takes pride in the bands participation on Monday. “I’m proud that we are the most represented school in the Patriot League,” he said, “They all worked really hard and a lot of them had solos or they were first chair players, and they really stepped up that day.”
