The Reds won all of the regional games to advance forward to state. The team stats at the end of the season are a .364 batting average, a whopping 711 plate appearances, 566 at bats, 216 runs, 206 hits, 41 doubles, 8 triples, and 10 home runs.

Eaton will lose 11 seniors, Hayden Gavette, Travis Cunningham, Justin Cunningham, Blake Carlson, Ryder Rich, Cameron Anderson, Jake Sandau, Tanner McCoy, Zeke Hass, Trent Kramer, and Killian Williams. 

Varsity won its second home game against Bishop Machebeuf, with a staggering score of 14-3. Seniors Jake Sandau, Travis Cunningham, and junior CJ Blaskowski, all scored two runs. By the end of the third inning, the Reds had scored seven runs. The Reds held The Buffaloes to zero until the fourth inning when one run slipped by. During the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, the Reds scored another seven runs, and ended up with 14. In the fifth, Machebeuf scored two more runs, for it’s final score of 3.

Coach Todd Hernandez said “We will lose a lot of great seniors, but I have confidence that with our underclassmen and juniors that there won’t be any fall off. Offense really started to get going, and that was a big part of this season. To the underclassmen, “Pay attention to the upperclassmen, they will help you advance in skill.”

Zeke Hass, (18),  leads the team with 30 hits, 28 runs, and 28 RBIs.

 Hass said “Work hard, give it everything you got, and have fun with who you are. Don’t slack, because it will come back to haunt you. I will really miss the closeness of the community here. In a larger town or city, you don’t walk down the street and recognize almost all the faces. Hopefully we win state. That will be a nice send off into the adult world.”

On Monday April 16, Eaton Reds baseball held a ceremony to retire the number two jersey. Both Dallas Duran and Ben Anderson wore the number 2 jersey. Duran passed away in Feb. 2017, and Anderson died in 1996. Both students passed away at age 16. The baseball team held the ceremony before their game on Mon. April 16 against Sterling Tigers. The Reds won 11-8.
