Girl’s basketball win by 7 points against Beetdiggers
The Lady Reds defeated the Brush Beetdiggers 48-41 on Friday 24, taking third place in its district. Although eaton got off to a slow start, it was able to power through thanks to a double-digit, high intensity third quarter. Brush outscored Eaton 13-8 in the first quarter and 11-6 in the second quarter, leaving Eaton down by 9 at halftime. Coming out of the locker room, Eaton was fueled by Bailie Duncan (19) who scored a game-high 15 points, including a three-pointer, according to Maxpreps. Eaton was able to go on a 21-7 run in the third quarter and a 13-10 run in the fourth quarter. In the end, Eaton triumphed over Brush 48-41 and finished third in their district.
According to CHSSA Now, Eaton will be the 13 seed in the state tournament, with round one beginning on March 3. Eaton will play the 20 seed Colorado Academy, whom it lost to previously in the season. If the Reds beat Colorado Academy, they will play the winner of Strasburg (29 seed) and Colorado Springs Christian (4 seed) to make it to the Sweet Sixteen. If Eaton should made it to the Final Four, a loss in game 29 will allow them a chance to play in the consolation bracket for 5th place.
