25 coal cars go off train track
By Sarah Jakel
Twenty-five coal cars derailed late last night at 11 p.m. The derailment was right behind the silos on Highway 85 in Lucerne. 392 was closed going both directions for a short time but later reopened. Clean up crews are on site cleaning up the destroyed rail cars and are piling up the coal that was spilled. During the derailment, no one was hurt or killed. A train car demolished the side of one of the structures near the silos. Clean up of everything is expected to take about 12 hours from start to finish. It is not clear what caused the train to derail.
