Eaton High School’s girl basketball team wins against Frontier
Eaton came away with a win of 63 to 13 against the Frontier Wolverines on Friday 13. The Lady Reds were able to hold the opponent to only 4 points in the first quarter, 2 in the second quarter, 2 in the third quarter, and 5 in the fourth quarter. Eaton scored double-digits in every quarter: 20 in the first, 22 in the second, 10 in the third, and 11 in the fourth.
Eaton point guard Courtney Leafgren (17) scored the most points for the Reds at 16, Bailie Duncan (17) scored 11, and Celsi Jurgensmeier (18) scored 9, according to Maxpreps. Jurgensmeier also had four steals and 8 rebounds, 7 of which were offensive. Jurgensmeier said, “We did well in attacking the basket and working the ball to see an open shot.” Sydney Booth (19) had 7 rebounds, and Alexis Lamoreaux (18) had 5.
One factor that hindered the Reds was the amount of fouls the team racked up. Both the Reds and Frontier were in double bonus by the second quarter. Eaton controlled the personal fouls out of halftime, but had still amassed 20 fouls by the end of the game. Eaton shot 59 percent from the free throw line.
Up next, the Reds (8-2 overall) will take on the Valley Vikings (3-8 overall) after a loss to Estes Park on Friday 13. The Reds will play the Vikings at home on January 17.
