Presidential candidates racking up more electoral votes
By Jayce Parrish
This week, September 18-24, in the 2016 Presidential Election,
Hillary Clinton vibrantly made a come back as she re-entered the campaign trail last Thursday to make appearances at places like Orlando and the Steve Harvey Show. Clinton outlined the importance of producing more job opportunities for the disabled. She is also pushing one of her main political ideas of keeping immigration families together. Hillary now stands at 200 electoral votes out of 538 electoral votes.
Donald Trump and his campaign are in Colorado this week to try and swing the state from a leaning Democratic state to a battleground state. He is gaining ground in Colorado with Mike Pence in Colorado Springs, Ivanka Trump in Fort Collins and Denver, and Donald Trump Jr. in Grand Junction. The Republican Presidential candidate accused Clinton for some of the unrest in the recent North Carolina riots. Trump has a possibility of getting 70 more electoral votes which would only put him at 266 electoral votes. If he wants to make the 270 required to win then he needs to seek a tactic of taking Hillary Clinton’s.
Monday night, September 26, is the first 2016 Presidential Debate in which Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will face off on live television. NBC’s Nightly News Anchor, Lester Holt, will be moderating the event. The three main topics of the debate are “America’s Direction,” “Achieving Prosperity,” and “Securing America.” Two African-Americans were killed this week, one in Tulsa, Oklahoma and another in Charlotte, North Carolina. Riots erupted in North Carolina bringing both Presidential Candidates concern. Depending on how the candidates react to the situation, this could be a major chance for them to show their leadership skills and gain followers. Overseers will be judging the Republican and Democratic candidates as they move into this next week of important Presidential debate.
