- Boys Swimming
- The Eaton High School had a boys swimming team thirty, forty, and fifty years ago. The team’s very first season was in ‘64 with twenty-three swimmers. Ten years later, in ‘74, the team had been reduced to ten members at the high school level, but there was a junior high team with five members. In ‘84 there were thirteen members at the high school level.
- 30 years ago
- The student council put on the snowball dance eight days before Christmas thirty years ago to celebrate the holiday. Much like homecoming, students dressed up in their formal wear.
- Foreign language clubs for German and Spanish provided students an opportunity to learn both the language and culture of a foreign language. Students had the opportunity to travel to local cultural events such as Oktoberfest and Edelweiss Club as well as experience cultural holidays.
- 40 years ago
- Bob Pfenning, Physical Education teacher for Benjamin Eaton Elementary school, graduated from Eaton High School in 1974. Pfenning played varsity football and track, president of FFA, and a member of the German Club.
- Band members forty years ago had eight color guard members and a band of seventy members. That’s almost twice the size of this year’s marching band.
- As October winds down, honor choir members are practicing their music for the honor choir performance. In 1974, only two choir members made the honor choir and performed with the honors choir.
- 50 years ago
- In 1964, nineteen students participated as representatives for the Junior Red Cross, an organization responding to disasters and emergencies. In 1964, the organization provided aid to a large earthquake in Anchorage, Alaska.
- The Red Ink would have been called the EHS Dial fifty years ago. The EHS Dial published a school paper each month and consisted of fourteen student journalists.
