After months of dedicated practice and preparation, all four choir programs had the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to excellence, delivering a captivating performance that left a lasting impression on the audience. The hard work was shown off by the choirs and captivated the audience that showed up to see what the choirs had to offer.
On Oct. 16, 2024, the students from Eaton High School’s Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, Bella Voce, and Troubadours took to the stage, presenting a diverse array of songs that spanned various genres and styles. For many students, this concert marked a significant milestone, as they had only a short time to learn and memorize five songs, coordinate choreography, and blend their voices harmoniously. The pressure was on, but the excitement in the air was palpable as the students prepared to share their hard work with an enthusiastic audience.
Despite the thrill of performing, nerves were understandably present, especially since this was the first concert of the year. Senior Lily Kennedy from Bella Voce reflected on her experience, and said, “I would rate it a seven out of ten because we did pretty well, especially for our first concert. However, it didn’t help that we had to move the date up by a week, which made things a bit more challenging.” This scheduling change was necessary because two of the three male members of the Troubadours choir were unavailable for the original concert date, which added an extra layer of complexity to the preparation.
Sophomore Trevan Felix, a member of the troubadours said, “The concert went great. I think everyone performed well, and I’m excited to see what’s in store for future concerts.” His enthusiasm reflected the collective spirit of the choirs, who are eager to continue honing their craft. To add a strong end to the concert, all choir members come together and sing “We are one”. All members meet once for a single lunch period to rehearse all together. Kennedy says “My favorite part was probably the song that we all sing together because, you know, it’s cool to have everyone mixed together.”
Looking ahead, the students are enthusiastic about the upcoming choir concerts scheduled for the remainder of the year. They are committed to building on the successes of this concert, using the experience as a stepping stone for future performances. Felix also expressed gratitude to the audience, and said, “I would like to thank everyone who attended the concert and supported us. Your presence made a huge difference.”
As the choirs begin their preparations for the next concert, they are ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities for growth, excited to enchant audiences with their talents once again.
