The new school year has sprung amongst the community at a rapid pace. New students are not the only new faces around the high school. The 2025 school year presents new teachers that have not worked in the building before. Starting fresh can be scary as a student, but it can also hold challenges to the incoming leaders of the classroom. At Eaton the staff bring positive outlooks to the students when helping carve their path in the world. The new teachers include Mr. Backurz, Mrs. Cochran, Mr. Mazenko, Mrs. Parker, Ms. Ditter, Mrs. Adams, Mr. Bean, and Mrs. Loyd.
The positivity surges out of these faculty members. All the teachers have had a welcoming feeling from the school board and students. The administrators gave a huge impact on making the teachers feel like they belong and have a support system. Some of them are alumni of Eaton High School themselves. Bringing another point of how impactful the Eaton community can be. They were comfortable and even excited to come back and work under the same roof they started in.
Eaton has worked hard on bringing in reliable sources for their students. This year the teachers all have experience. Some of the teachers have university level experience including Mrs. Loyd and Mrs. Adams. This brings in controversy on why they would choose a highschool over a college. Mrs. Adams said, “I get to have deeper relationships here then I ever could have at the university.” Having a small town feeling to a growing community is something that people think will be lost, but our teachers are proving that wrong. Each student gets seen and the teachers love being involved in something physically and emotionally instead of being behind a computer all day with little to no contact with the students.
Deciding on a job can be very difficult. It is serious and can cause a lot of stress in certain situations with people’s lives. One of the most bubbly and outgoing people in the school that decided to take the job in Eaton is Mrs. Ditter. She is so happy to have the opportunity and be a rock for the students here, but she spoke up on what she was struggling with on deciding to take this job or not. Mrs. Ditter said, “It’s always nerve racking because you don’t know the stability of it. I have a daughter now so I need to make sure I’m stable after coming from something you established for three years to something new is really nerve racking.” Mrs. Ditter brings a new perspective on how open someone can be and she hopes it will bring others to open up to her. Our teachers are not perfect and are here to help us and have taken a leap into this job to be something greater for the students.
