The Eaton Reds football team started its year off by walking over The Academy on Friday night, August 23. With a final score of 63 to 6, the Reds marched off the field knowing they hadn’t left a single doubt in anyone’s mind that they would be a team to beat this year. Star receiver, and the holder of three of the Reds’ nine touchdowns, Davis Anders (14) said, “We went out there and wanted to make a statement for the rest of the year that we weren’t ever going to go down without a fight, and we were going to give everyone our best shot.” Anders along with running back Nick Schreiber (15) combined for a total of 227 yards receiving. Schreiber, along with his receiving yards, rushed for 110 yards with three touchdowns. Schreiber said, “I felt that our team really came together and decided that we could be a top team this year, and I think we really proved it Friday.” The team’s talent will be tested again when they take on the Roosevelt Roughriders in Johnstown August 30th. The Reds look forward to improving their record to 2-0.
