Eaton Volleyball takes victory over Brush
The Reds went out and rolled over Brush and Evie Gavette won player of the match.
The Eaton Reds volleyball team beat the Brush Beetdiggers with a score of 3-0. On September 22, 2022 “hick night” theme for the student section, brought an easy win. The Reds kept the Beetdiggers under ten points during sets two and three. These ladies are doing everything in their power to keep their 10-1 streak alive, so they set themselves for success at state. Emily Maske (23) said, “Every team in the state tournament has proven that they deserve to be there, so we’re just taking it one day at a time and focusing on getting better each day.”
Maske and Ainslie Ross (23) scored big for the Reds with a total of seven kills each. Following them, Annie DeJager (25) had a total of four kills. Gavette (25) benefited her team on defense and dug 14 balls.
Gavette, #9, for the Reds, was selected player of the match. She has been on varsity for two years now, as a freshman and now a sophomore. She did all she could to prove she deserved this. Gavette said, “It was my first time winning player of the match and my teammates cheered for me and supported me the whole game, which I think helped me out a ton.” Support plays a huge role for the Reds volleyball team.
