Eaton dominates at home
Eaton takes first at the home track meet
The track team made Eaton proud with amazing results at the Fightin Reds Invitational. On Saturday, April 9, Eaton hosted their home track meet. Both men’s and women’s teams took 1st place at the meet. All the athletes placed very well in almost every event, great job to the Eaton track team for the impressive display.
This meet was filled with personal records (PRs). Ethan Florez (22) placed top 10 in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Alongside Florez, Skyler Williams (23), Owen Dejong (24), Will Grable (23), Zac Grable (23), Michael Salazar (23), Joseph Sisneros (22), and Aiden Adams (24) also placed in events. In jumping events, Zac Grable placed first in the high jump. Chase Mackey (23) and Dakota Braucher (23) also placed in the top five for the high jump. Philip Lawrence (22), Lucas Cass (22), Mackey, Charlie Fritzler (24), and Cameron Shaw (22)all placed in throwing events. Amazing job by all the boys’ athletes on their respected events.
For women, Madlyn Fisher (23), Brynn Dummett (25), Jocelyn Contreras (23), Aedalin Barclay (24), Andie Rasmussen (24), Allyson Weichel (22), and Madison Robson (23) all placed in events. Barclay placed 2nd in the 3200 meter run and 5th in the 1600 meter run. In jumping events, Kaiya Sinkler (24) and Ainslie Ross (23) placed.
All Eaton track athletes performed very well despite the challenges they may have faced. Head coach Jaryn Guerra said, “At a home, track meet the biggest challenge we face as a team is a responsibility of hosting and that athletes not only have to focus on their events but setting blocks, moving hurdles, and answering questions.” In a few weeks, these amazing performances will take these athletes to state!
