Boys basketball defeats the Frontier Wolverines
Continuing onto the third game of conference play, the Reds keep on strolling after Thursday night’s Jan. 21 matchup between the Frontier Academy Wolverines. With a 40 point difference, the boys beat the Wolverines 72-32. Starting strong, in the first quarter, the Reds led 26-5. Leading the team in points was Zac Grable (23) with 17 points, following close behind with 14 points was Mitch Haythorn (24). Haythorn said, “I feel like we shot much better and had better spacing on the offensive side. I think if we continue to push the ball up and down the floor for transition, knock down shots and continue to play tough defense we will be right where we need to.” At half, the Reds were up 46-10. After working out different problems from weeks previous, the boys have taken Coach Dean Grable’s corrections and have run with them. After the devastating loss against the Resurrection Christian Cougars on Jan. 14, the boys lit a fire beneath them to continue after the 52-59 loss. After halftime, the boys maintained their lead and ended up winning 72-32. Previous to the start of the game, Peyton Walker (24) received a varsity spot on the team, making it now a total of 13 boys on the roster. Cole Lockey (23) said, “ I’m glad he got pulled up. We are a very young team with only 3 seniors, so any experience that the younger guys can get now is good and it’s good for the program.”
Next up for the Reds are the Strausburg Indians at home on Tuesday, Jan. 25, then on Saturday, Jan. 29, the Reds will travel to face the neighboring Severance Knights. To stay updated on the upcoming games, tune into Eaton Red Ink for weekly updates and NFHS to watch the game live.
