The Concert Band, Jazz Band I, and Jazz Band II played awesome in their concert held on April 11. Sami Muse (14) said, “It was a success. The main purpose of the concert was to get some money we got some money.“ The band raised about $400 and it will go towards the Marching band and new instruments. The different bands played while the other members of the band served dessert to their families. Sami Muse (14) said, “Everyone brought some food, mostly homemade. I for one brought cupcakes I decorated myself.” Families and friends hung out and ate some dessert while being entertained by music. Adeniz Macias (12) said, “It was a lot of fun. It really got us prepared for competition. It wasn’t stressful and people weren’t judging us. It was more like let’s chill out and eat some cake.” Amy Phillips (15) said “We did really good on some songs and not so good on others.” Sami Muse (14) said, “We have been working on the songs every day and are going to use them in competition on May 3.” A few of the songs played at the concert were Man in the Mirror, Maiden Voyage, My Favorite Things, Afternoon, Foundary, The Thunder, and Just Those Three. The audience really enjoyed Man in the Mirror and they also went crazy for Michael Jackson. Another song that got a huge applause was Foundary. The audience enjoyed all the performances. Amy Phillips (15) said, “The trumpet section always stands out and the drums do too.” However, a few of the soloist that throughout the night were Jesse Bosveld, Marcus Longwell, Emily Augustine, and Hannah Moser. The crowd was non-stop applauding all night. “I like the song Afternoon. It was a really chill song and was just kinda of a kick-back song,” said Andeniz Macias (12), “But we all hate Maiden Voyage because it is so difficult to play and we practice it so much.” The bands have their last concert, May 10, and will also play at graduation, May 20.
