‘See the Color Within the Grey’

Marching band finds hope through hardship

On Saturday, October 17 the Fightin’ Reds Marching Band attended the Greeley Invitational at Northridge High School. Rather than competing, the band performed for the Windsor High School and Greeley Central bands. Spectators and parents from Eaton, Windsor, and Greeley came to support the band students.

Drum Major Nick Sell (21) said, “Performing for a larger audience was very nice because it was something we didn’t think we’d get the chance to have. We weren’t sure what this season was going to become, but performing was a moment of pride and gratefulness”.

This year’s show is entitled “See the Color Within the Grey”. It is inspired by the year everyone has experienced and the importance of finding hope. Sell said, “To me, this show means having hope in the presence of fear. We all feared this season being shut down. We all saw other schools and band programs get shut down and thought we were next. Having my senior season of marching band has been a blessing. Being my fifth year, I am so glad I’ve grown with these people. We all have dull, gray moments in our lives, but we can look past them and find the colors that make us unique. This show to me is unity, dedication, hard work, and trust. It represents who we are very well”.

The Fightin’ Reds Marching Band will be performing their 2020 show one last time at 10:00 am on the main football field on Saturday, October 24.
