While I appreciate that Isaiah Cordova is trying to show support for the right of the GSA club, the GSA article by Isaiah is really bringing up negative affects on people, causing backlash toward the clubs and the newspaper in general. The article missed a few things that actually happened: for the first part FCS didn’t take the posters down in the name of religion. One member took some of them down because of a joke gone sour (the joke wasn’t by a GSA member either–an unaffiliated student put GSA posters on an FCS student’s locker). This member of FCS came into the first meeting and apologized for tearing a few of them down.
Then several members of FCS even offered to make new ones and hang them up for us. We all said thank you and it meant a lot to all of us. FCS even mentioned that the members of the GSA club were brave for starting the club and said they were not against us. We don’t won’t anything bad to happen to any clubs or the relationship we have between us, but if someone is going to make an article based on opinion, make sure to get all the facts and make sure to attend the meeting, too.
We are going to be having a meeting the second Friday in November (the exact date is November 9th), and we welcome all, even if they just have questions or if they just want to see what the club is about.
