Reds softball faces defeat
Reds come up one run short against back-to-back teams
Eaton Reds softball team came up one run short against the Lamar Savages. The Savages scored the first runs taking the lead against the Reds.
They held the lead until the 5th inning when the Reds made a come back scoring six runs making it a 10- 6 game. In the 7th inning, the Mighty Reds went on a streak scoring three runs to make it 10-9.
The streak finally stopped when senior, Ali Hobbs hit a line drive to third base. Hobbs said “We really didn’t have the energy level we needed to win this game. We were all really nervous and timid.”
Determined to make it to state, the girls have set goals for themselves clearly shown on there shirts. The shirts read, 10/20/18 at 1:15 the exact date and time of the softball state championship. Last year the girls fell short at the semi final tournament almost making it to the final game.
The Reds later went on to play game two Friday, August 24th. After a close game, The Reds lost 11-10 against Rocky Ford. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Rocky Ford, on offense, were able to put the ball in play and get it past Eaton’s tough defense. Gaining the lead by one, Rocky went on to win the game by one. Although it was a tough loss the girls are able to reflect and prepare for the next upcoming game at University High School on Tuesday, August 28.
