Knowledge Bowl places fourth at Highland meet

Eaton High School Knowledge Bowl places fourth Highland High School for another competition this season on Saturday, Jan. 20. Nineteen teams competed at Highland at the meet last weekend from Eaton, Estes Park, Frontier Academy, Highland, Platte Valley, Sterling, University and Valley.  Eaton A (Varsity) consisted of Adam Richling (18), Tyler Alm (18), Josh Lapp (19), and Bryce Decker (18). Eaton B (B team) consisted of Sarah Fassler (20), Michael Wright (18), Ian Righling (21), and Shellby Wright (21).

After taking a placement test Eaton B competed against one of the Platte Valley teams for their first round and placed second to last overall. Eaton A competed against two teams, University and Frontier in the first round and scored four points. Tyler Alm said, “Our first round was rough but we made up for it in the second and third rounds.” In their second round they scored eight points and in the third they scored seven points. They scored 56 points overall.

So far, in competition for Patriot League Eaton is in third place behind University and Frontier Academy, two very competitive schools. Patriot League is knowledge bowl’s state competition. Adam Richling said, “We work really hard and hope to make it to state.” The team has another meet at Windsor next Saturday, Jan. 27 which will possibly bring them one step closer to Patriot League.
