After wrestling regionals, 10 of Eaton’s wrestlers qualify for state

The Eaton Reds competed in regional wrestling against a number of other schools last Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11. The Reds ranked number nine in class 3A and have 10 wrestlers who qualified for state wrestling. Eaton wrestled from four to nine on Friday and nine in the morning to nine at night on Saturday. With the 10 wrestlers who qualified to go to state, Eaton had the most wrestlers qualify next to Alamosa who had 12. The wrestlers who qualified are Toby Gavette (19), Ariel Rodriguez (18), Jackson Contreras (19), David Pringle (18), Hayden Gavette (18), Braedy Sturdevant (18), Jake Sandau (18), Braeson Lewis (18), Ty Garnhart (19), and Isaiah Salazar (20).
Tony Mustari, the Red’s head wrestling coach, said, “We have a very good chance of being in the top five [at state].” The wrestlers who qualified are competing up at the Pepsi center in Denver on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Feb. 16-18
