Eaton High School’s Knowledge Bowl team faces against schools in other leagues
By April Van Wyhe
Eaton’s Knowledge Bowl set off to Windsor to a non-official meet against different leagues of schools. Eaton is a 3A school in the Northern Colorado region. The Windsor meet was coordinated with schools in the area, despite their league in order for the students to interact more with corresponding schools. Specifically for this meet each team for a school had to pay to participate, because it was an unofficial meet. Annually, Eaton has been involved in this meet, now with even more vigor due to an former student teacher, Michael Thompson, now organizing the meet as Windsor’s head coach.
Eaton’s A team, chosen by points from the previous meets by their lettering cards, consisting of Isaiah Cordova (17), Adam Richling (18), Bryce Decker (18), and Joshua Lapp (19) faced off against each school beginning with the written round. With this multiple choice assessment, meant to assign teams against one another, Eaton received a record for themselves, with 45 out of 50 possible points. With this strong lead, Eaton faced off against some of the most difficult schools at this meet. Staying consistent with their usual scores at meets Eaton got 10 and 9 points in the first and second oral rounds. Unfortunately, this steady flow of points was not enough for them to keep at the top of the list, and the team began to drop lower in the ranks. In the third round, Eaton dropped to a low for their team, only stealing away 5 points. Determined to not go down without a fight, Eaton finished strongly scoring 11 points in the final round. Finishing with 80 points, Eaton found itself in the middle of the rankings of these mixed schools.
