By Devan Mc Kenney
Eaton Girl’s Basketball lost to a close match to Colorado Academy Mustangs on January 7 while on the road. The final score was 38-32. Eaton’s stand out players were Courtney Leafgren (17) and Celsi Jurgensmeier (18). Leafgren scored eight points and had two rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Jurgensmeier had seven points and had five rebounds, one assist, and three steals. Although the girls lost, Leafgren remains hopeful about the rest of the season. “The loss pointed out to us that we need to become more aware of how to handle late game situations. We need to play with a sense of urgency,” Leafgren said, “Going into the regular season this week, we will hopefully be more prepared as far as how to execute plays when we need it most. The loss gives us a chance to strengthen our weaknesses before we get to where it counts the most.” The Mustangs’ stand out players were Story Wolf-Tinsman (19), Maggie Silliman (18), and Kyra Kurtz (18). These three girls all each scored nine points apiece. Kurtz got 11 rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Eaton Girl’s Basketball will play at home versus Strausberg at 7 p.m.
