Eaton boys basketball team takes loss to Highland
By Devan McKenney
Eaton lost to Highland in boys basketball at home 68-51 on Tues. Dec 6. Highland’s Koby Anderson (19) and Cole Rouse (17) each scored 20 points with three other players picking up the remaining 28. For Eaton, Jaxon Hobbs (17) scored 21 points and Harrison Zeller (19) scored 11. Zeller came in from the bench and showed that he can play. “It’s an honor to play on this team,” Zeller said, “I really enjoy playing with these other guys and having great seniors to look up to.” Eaton trailed the majority of the game but showed hope when they entered the second half trailing 36-30. Eaton had trouble handling the ball and turned the ball over 19 times which lead to 25 points for Highland. Coach Dean Grable said, “Our Defense is getting better and is far ahead of where we expect to be… but we need to take care of the ball on offense.” When Eaton was able to slow down on offense and set up plays, magic began to happen. Zeller was able to knock down uncontested three-pointers and Hobbs hit his short to mid range jumpers. Mason Willadsen (19) proved to be a great help from off the bench by leading Eaton in assists with four. Grable said that the team this year is very inexperienced. Sophomore such as Willadsen skipped from C-Team to Varsity without ever playing JV. With only two senior, Hobbs has the most varsity experience with Micah Dorsey getting very few as a junior last year. Dorsey will have to have to step it up this year as the team looks to him as a senior for leadership.
