The Eaton High School marching band donned their red and black uniforms and went to Grand Junction for the Colorado Bandmasters Association state marching band championships. The contest welcomed 14 schools from across the state on Monday Oct. 31. Out of those 14, Eaton’s band finished 6th in the 2A classification with a score of 67.35 out of 100 potential points.
For the championships, the EHS band presented their performance titled “Blues Train,” which, according to percussionist Bryce Decker (18), “We have been practicing every week since early July.”
The band has practiced in an all-day camp during the summer and as a zero-hour class when the school year started.
According to Decker, the marching band has finished 5th in the last two years where the qualification cut-off is 4th place.
