By Devan McKenney
Eaton Softball lost in the semifinals at the state tournament Oct. 21- 22 in Aurora. Eaton entered the state tournament ranked third in 3A. They defeated Delta 15-14 in the first round. In the quarterfinals, Eaton beat La Junta 13-3. In the semifinal game, emotions were all over the place according to Sierra Price (17) who said, “Verses Rocky Ford, everyone was upset when that girl hit that home run… then she hit another one.” The Reds seemed to lose hope when the Rocky Ford Meloneers scored seven runs in the second inning. Even when the season came to an end earlier than the girls would have liked, the Reds left it all on the field. “In the end I was proud of everyone,” Jenna Thompson (17) said.“In that last game I knew we gave it our all even though we did lose.” The Reds finished the season with a record of 18-5.
