Eaton golf team places second in their region, and is sent to State

The Reds golf team is off at State after dominating on Sep 19-20 at the Weld County Regional tournament. The Reds put up phenomenal scores placing second overall. To get to state, Eaton had to first score well in the Northern Regional and they did. Out of a total of four regions the Reds played in the hardest one. The top two teams in each region qualify for state, and the Red’s placed second in their region. The Reds played against Northridge, Roosevelt, Windsor, and Berthoud.
On their first day at regionals the Reds played at Sterling at the Northeastern 18 golf course. Ethan Alcazar tied for first and shot a 70. Peter Grossenbacher shot a 73. Andrew Giesick shot a 75 and Payton Jacobson shot a 78.
At their second day at the regional tournament, the Reds played at Pelican lakes in Windsor. Alcazar tied for first place, shooting a 70 on a par 72 course. Alcazar also made a 30-foot putt, which was a turning point for the team. Grossenbacher shot one over par making a 73. Giesick shot 78, and Jacobson shot an 80.
ByThe Reds have have been doing well at state so far. The team is currently in fourth place. Grossenbacher is currently tied for 10th place. Alcazar is currently in 17th place. Giesick finished 33rd and Jacobson finished 44th.
