The Reds Softball team won an explosive home-opener against the Platte Valley Broncos 17-2 Thursday, Aug. 25. Despite an early error in the top of the first inning, the Reds led the game with 7 RBIs and a 2 run-home run hit by Allie Hobbs (19). Heading into the second inning strong, the Reds scored 4 more, including a one-run home run from Senior Brynn Millett.
The Broncos responded with 2 runs in the 4th. Returning to bat, Karissa Hatchell (17) hit a one-run homerun to center field. The reds ended the game in the bottom of the 4th.
The catcher Hatchell said, “I feel good. We’re taking things one game at a time. Kersey is a pretty good rival and getting the W on them felt really good.”
“Our bats came alive in the first inning and we made some good plays,” Hatchell continued.
The Reds’ next game will be a round robin at the Greeley Evans Youth League Saturday Aug 27.
