EHS Senior Karelly Arroyo never expected to be thrust into the spotlight. She simply “saw it in a magazine.” She learned that sometimes all it takes is an opportunity after deciding to compete for a spot on the cover of Quinceñeras Magazine. Arroyo won the competition, which was based on “leadership, personality, and responsibility.” The reward was a cover shot in Quinceñeras Magazine. She attended an audition and was one of 12 girls to get the callback.
Arroyo then went on to take first place and earn a spot on the cover, saying that it was a “great honor because not anyone would step up and take the initiative to compete. Not everyone would have the confidence.” Quinceñeras Magazine is a print for young girls looking to throw themselves a quinceñeras on their 15th birthday. It can also help girls with school and gaining confidence, Arroyo said.
