Over 60 people attended Thursday night’s forum along with Chanel 7 News, Colorado Public Radio, The Greeley Tribune and The North Weld Herald to take a closer look at Eaton’s Indian representation. Eaton Red Ink staff hosted Governor Hickenlooper’s Commission to Study American Indian Representations in Public Schools at the public forum March 10 in order to discuss the Eaton Fightin’ Reds mascot.
Several community members and students offered differing viewpoints on the mascot issue–should it be changed? Is it a tradition worth keeping? Is it honoring Native Americans, and could it be kept with the name Reds? A complete story on the forum can be found here.
