Something really interesting is happening in the world of Eaton sports and I bet you’ve never even heard of it. At Eaton High School, we have a Live-stream program better known as Eaton Reds TV. The program is run by Larry Lawhead and was carried out this winter sports season by Dayana Pena and CJ Blaskowski (19). The Eaton Reds TV streamed every single home basketball game, every home wrestling match, and took to the road to the district championships at Bank of Colorado Arena on the campus of UNC.
The Eaton Live Stream took course when fans who couldn’t make it to the home football games wanted to watch from home or a mobile device. The Reds TV expanded into both boys and girls basketball and also wrestling this season. The Eaton Reds TV saw several buzzer-beaters, the last 20 win season since ‘08-’09 stint, and a girls team that didn’t lose once at home.
“It’s a really cool thing,” said Larry Lawhead, “with all this technology advancing, we’re doing something I couldn’t of dreamt of back in my day.” The Live-stream has a camera to record games, the computer for the visual display for the viewer, microphone headsets for the announcers, and a stand for that camera.
In the next season, we plan on expanding to volleyball, swimming, softball, and more wrestling. The idea is to get the most amount of viewers possible for each Eaton sport. Now I bet you’re wondering how to access the Eaton Reds TV. First, you log on to NFHS network and it will bring up a search for a state or school. Type in the search section, “Eaton” and click on the Eaton High School, Eaton, CO. Scroll to find the game and sport you desire and it will take you to a subscription page. You can buy the day pass; that will give you unlimited access to all the “On Demand” and “Live” sections for 24 hours occurring after the purchase. The monthly pass will give you unlimited access to all sections for 30 days. The season pass will give you unlimited access to all sections for four months.
The NFHS site is a really up-to-date webpage and I encourage all of you sports fans to take a look and watch one of the free games uploaded. We would love to have viewers next season for volleyball, we know that a large crowd is already awaiting the move and encourage you to go check it out.
