In an otherwise silent auditorium, the tall,dark room was filled with the sound of music during the Fall Band Concert on Oct. 21. With 76 total members between Concert Band, Jazz Combo, and Jazz Ensemble there was plenty of music to be heard on the night. The bands played 10 tunes Milt Jackson, Doug Beach, Mike Lewis Ralph Ford, and more. Band members from each group showcased their skills. Connor Moos (17), a trumpet player in concert band, said that solos are “nerve racking, but it’s nice knowing others hear your work.” Moos had a solo in a tune called “Psalm 42,” by Samuel Hazo. Band director, Logan Doddridge, said, “The kids focused on making the most beautiful noise possible with their instrument.” In Jazz Ensemble, The crowd erupted after a guitar solo by Emma Weaver during the song “Vehicle,” by Ralph Ford. Marching band placed fifth in the state competition on Oct. 25. The next band concert is on Dec. 10.
