The season ahead is looking very bright for the Eaton Reds wrestling team with all five state qualifiers returning to the mat as well as nine regional placers. A new coach is in the mix for the season this year as well. Tony Mustari, a three time state champion from Greeley Central and three time division one national qualifier, is very well qualified to run the team to a state championship season. The team is currently ranked tenth in 3a. Rusty Lohr, who placed third at state last year, is currently ranked number one in the state, and joined by a well seasoned senior class. The team is also in link with lower classman who are well acquainted with winning. An Eaton wrestling squad has not won a team state championship in school history, but “this year the room is full of talent and hard workers,” said Mustari who believes this could be the year. The first scheduled tournament for the team is Dec. 5 in Akron, and will be a good test for the Reds with regional rivals Brush and University also joining them.
