With the season just around the corner, the Eaton Reds Girls basketball team hits the court yet again to prepare for another season of success. With a combined record of 53-4 last season, coach Todd Hernandez spoke on his hopes and expectations for the season in an official statement, “At the varsity level we return 10 letterwinners, so we should have plenty of experience. I believe that the key will be developing some depth so that we can overcome foul trouble or injury. In addition to that, we are not going to be very tall. This means that we are going to have to play at a pace that will help us negate any height disadvantage that we may encounter.” In addition to this, the team returns hopeful for another shot at earning a title for Eaton High School, “ We expect to compete with Sterling for the Patriot League Championship this year (they gave us 3 of our 4 losses last year) and hope to make a run at a state title,” said coach Hernandez. The first game of the season fast approaches, and the girls prepare to face the Sterling Tigers next tuesday December 8 at Sterling High School. Hernandez is excited for his girls first game and believes the team will perform on tuesday, “ The initial practices have been encouraging, and I believe that we should be strong at all three levels,” Hernandez said.
