Red Strong, the collective support of students involved in clubs and teams, cheered on the volleyball girls at their regional game on Nov. 6. Chad Shaw, the adviser of the LINK leaders, history teacher and softball coach, created Red Strong with the idea of allowing the Eaton teams to support one another. Shaw realized that “there are a lot of things here that don’t get a lot of student attention… that [they] deserve” and decided to change that. The volleyball regional game was the first appearance of the Red Strong with the collective groups of the LINK leaders, football team, student council, theater, softball team, and some yearbook members at this game. The regional game was won by the Lady Reds by an extensive lead, while the Red Strong cheered them on all the way. Red Strong continued throughout the entire game, with students standing on the bleachers and shouting various chants organized by Shaw, to cheer on their fellow school mates. This later led to the Spirit Bus initiated by the student council, which followed and cheered on the volleyball team to victory at the state championship. One of the supporters of Red Strong, from the softball team, Celsi Jurgensmeier, said, “It’s just a place where all the teams come together to help support one another.”
