The Eaton Reds Volleyball team swept the Valley Viking 3-0 during the 3a State Finals match on Nov.14 at the Denver Coliseum to claim their third consecutive state title. The Lady Red’s started slow in the first set, and the Vikings capitalized by keeping the set close until senior standout, Lindy Dixon, blocked a ball to shift the momentum to finish the set 25-15. The momentum again shifted back to the Vikings, and they were able to tie the set at 17 before Red’s coach Gwen Forster called a timeout to relax the girls. After the timeout, the Vikings scored once more before the Reds scored eight in a row to end the second set 25-18. In classic Eaton style the Reds steamrolling their opponent 25-10 in the third set. The team was joined by a loud and rowdy student section that filled the coliseum with a sense of excitement as they watched the girls win their third straight state title. The future is bright “with girls that can do it every year,” said Forster. The Lady Reds will be bidding farewell Caiden Rexius, Bailey Schumacher, and Lindy Dixon to graduation with Rexius and Dixon going on to play volleyball at Western State Colorado University.
