Emma Willadsen (17) will be heading to the South West Regional National Competition to represent the Eaton High School Cross Country team on Nov. 21. As soon as Willadsen found out that she had the chance to go to Regional Nationals, she chose to go. Willadsen and her father are going to make the 14 hour car ride to Casa Grande, Arizona. Caiden Rexius (16) started a Go Fund Me page to provide extra funding for Willadsen’s trip; now, Willadsen and her father can fly to Arizona for the race. Willadsen said she could not have done this alone and wants to thank her coaches, the volleyball team, the community, her parents and her cross country teammates.
On Nov. 21, Willadsen will run in the championship race or the small school race. Which race she is supposed to be in is yet to be decided. To be qualified for the championship race she must make the cut off time which is still undetermined. Willadsen said, “I have to place in the top twenty in the entire state of Colorado.” She placed in the top twenty for the school’s division. She will need to have between seven to eight hundred dollars to make the trip to Arizona. So far the Go Fund Me page has raised $735 to help Willadsen on her journey.
