It’s about that time of the year again. The golf season is in full swing and teams from schools from all districts are acquiring a better understanding of their competition. As the season progresses more and more teams are finding their strengths as well as their weaknesses. The Eaton High golf team has no shortage of competitive and experienced athletes this year. The team has become a melting pot of all ages, ethnicities, and skill levels. All coming together to form a sturdy and promising team. The team is off to a great start with athletes such as Andy Geisick (17), J.D. Truax(16), Ethan Alcazar (18), and Peter Grossenbacher (19) all placing frequently on the leaderboards. “We (the boys of the team) take second quite a bit,” said Truax “But we’re never far behind from 1st place.” Truax (16) is one of the oldest members of the golf team this year. “This year our team is one of the most solid I’ve ever played with,” Truax had only good things to say about his team mates. “We all have fun together, especially when we are competing. There is a pretty noticeable connection between all of us, we really are just friends who get to play golf together.” The boys are off to a strong start and are already thinking ahead to state. “Wins are never guaranteed,” Truax said “Golf is just one of those sports that require individual focus and teamwork, and that’s not always easy to dial in.” This years team will be golfing against some of the toughest teams from other schools that they have seen in some time. The well bonded team seems more interested in having fun and improving their skills than dominating the competition. As the season continues it is becoming more and more apparent that trophies and titles are just icing on the cake. And that these boys simply love to play golf with each other.
