The Lady Reds pulverized the Estes Bobcats at home with a 72-27 victory on Jan. 23. Bailey Jones (15) said, “As a team we executed plays very well and we constantly played hard on offense and on defense.”After the 39-52 loss to the Sterling Tigers on Jan. 20, the Reds bounced back fast with newfound energy and dedication. The win set their record at 11-2, owing both losses to Sterling. Against the Bobcats, Jones nabbed 16 points with two three-pointers. Cadien Rexius (16) bagged 9 points and Lindy Dixon (16) snatched 8 points. Also, Bailey Schumacher (16) led the way with 4 steals. Dixon said, “I think for the first time we came out really strong with momentum and energy,” after the Sterling loss, the Reds committed and “it really clicked for us.” Although the Sterling loss broke the Reds’ winning streak, at the same time it motivated the team to have a solid victory against Estes. Varsity Coach Hernandez said, “Against Estes we showed a renewed energy. As coaches we challenged the girls to rededicate themselves and to take the steps necessary to reach the next level so we won’t have a repeat performance the next time we play Sterling.” The Lady Reds will play University on Jan. 30 and they will play Sterling again in Regionals.
