After high school, Joseph Martinez (25) plans to pursue his electrician license and start his own business. Outside of school, he works in roofing and enjoys his passion for cars, spending time building them and attending car events with friends. A car event he looks forward to is Slammedenuff Gatlinburg.
At Eaton High School, Martinez embodies the qualities of a natural leader. He believes that leadership is essential to “inspiring others and creating a positive impact.” He has the ability to get things done and doesn’t like to start something without finishing it. Martinez credits his family and friends with influencing his journey through high school and shaping his plans to own a business. Martinez said, “My dad owns a business, so I think that’ll help me understand more and know what to do.”
For Martinez, the most crucial word in the EATON acronym is tenacity. Martinez said, “It represents persistence and dedication, whether in school or working towards my goals.” When working towards his goals, he stays motivated by thinking about the outcome and what he gets out of it. For him, being an Eaton Red means being resilient, dedicated and always striving for improvement.
As he prepares to graduate, Martinez hopes to leave a legacy of someone passionate, hardworking, and dedicated. His journey through high school is a testament to his passions and commitments, making him a true embodiment of what it means to be an Eaton Red.
