With the start of a new season, the Eaton Reds Volleyball team is looking to defend their State Championship title and has gotten off to a great start this season with a record of 6-0 overall, and 4-0 in their own league. Their latest match against the Brush Beetdiggers (5-7, 2-3) was a sweep in which they won all three games by over nine points each. The Reds are undefeated this season thus far, sweeping every opponent they have met. Eaton is currently ranked 2nd in the Patriot League, three games behind the Valley Vikings (10-1, 5-0), and was pre-ranked 1st in 3A by CHSAA prior to the start of the season. When asked about the season, Bailey Shumacher (16) said, “We know we have to work really, extra hard because we have a big target on our back, so we know that when we’re in the gym we’ve got to use every opportunity that we can to get better.” She also said that she is looking forward to the upcoming games because of the challenges that they are going to face, and they will get an opportunity to showcase the hard work they have put into this season.
The volleyball team’s next game is away against the Platte Valley Broncos (10-0, 5-0) on Sept. 16, and their next home game will be against the Patriot League’s number one contender, the Valley Vikings on Sept. 18.
